Her story as a visual artist began as a search for personal expression after years of working as a designer and architect in São Paulo, her hometown and where she currently lives, after briefly living in London and Milan.
During an emotionally challenging period about ten years ago, Silvia immersed herself in the visual arts in search of distraction and relaxation. In this introspective moment, she found comfort and well-being only in her own home. To fill her free time, she began to explore the world of canvas painting, an activity that also served as entertainment for her youngest daughter, a toddler at the time. It was a special moment for both of them, of mutual acceptance, which resulted in several works of a recreational nature and served as a first step on their artistic journey.
Glass has always been a central element in his professional career, in architecture, construction and the development of decorative pieces and designer furniture. However, the use of glass in his works of art came about completely by chance. During his period of seclusion, when he realized he had forgotten to buy canvases to paint on at the weekend, he decided to improvise and use some glass samples he had at home as the basis for his paintings.
The result surprised her, not only because of the brilliance of the pieces, but especially because of the depth that the colors acquire when applied to glass. Since then, she has never used any other basis for painting than glass. Through research and various attempts, the artist developed a paint suitable for glass and began to make new creative experiments, such as creating two-dimensional works by overlapping pieces. These explorations using glass remain part of her daily life, in a constant search for new creative paths.
The balanced and predictable aesthetic of stripes became the most important graphic tool for channeling his avalanche of emotions, reflecting his need for an organized structure in the midst of the rupture he was experiencing at that time in his life. Silk-screened glass and its geometric patterns continue to serve as the basis and guide for his works to this day and have become the most striking element in his work as a visual artist.
Since the beginning of her career, each work has become a means of exploring and reconfiguring the artist's questions, converting restlessness and uncertainty into aesthetic beauty and satisfaction. More than mere expression, art has become her refuge, where she finds healing and renewal.
